Grant

Grant has worked with motorcycles since he was 18. He has a lot of experience racing motorcycles and preparing them for track use.

In 2007 Grant began working at Fins, starting as an assistant on the sales desk. Now you’ll find him running the show from the front desk and organising everything and everyone. He is now the managing Director after himself and Monica took over the business from Fin in 2021.

Grant’s love of watching racing started his own participation in 2011 and he and his wife Monica have spent many seasons competing in club racing throughout the UK and Europe. Although not employed as a mechanic Grant spends much of his spare time preparing racing motorcycles.

Grant is also a keen cyclist, regularly competing in enduros and road cycling events.

Monica

Monica is Grant's partner in crime and now runs Fins Motorcycles in partnership with him. Monica has been involved in motorcycles since she was a child competing in Trials.

In 2014 she found herself on the race track rather than the muddy woods. She has had a very successful career in road racing having won multiple races at club level with Bemsee and she even went on the represent Fins Motorcycles at a World superbike round in Jerez. Monica enjoys running marathons and competing in cyclocross races (and yes she is fast in these disciplines as well.)

Fin

Fin is the Original Founder and now works in the shop part time after 33 years of excellent work getting Fins Motorcycles to where it is today.

When Fin was very young, on Saturdays ITV World of Sport showed Motocross, which sparked a lifelong enthusiasm for motorcycles.

Fin’s first bike, at the age of 12, was a 50cc Phillips, closely followed by a variety of small capacity bikes. From that age on, he has been repairing and riding them.

In 1988 Fin opened his first shop in a small unit and quickly increased in size until reaching capacity in the original location. In 2011 the business moved to the current location.

During the 1990s Fin was very successful racing a variety Yamaha 2-strokes with Bemsee. He still owns some of those race bikes.

The first famous motorcycle racer that Fin was introduced to was Stanley Woods from Ireland, as his father worked for him many years ago. Over the years Fin watched Barry Sheen’s career with interest and enjoyment, and now avidly follows Valentino Rossi.

These days Fin still enjoys track days, trials riding, road riding, and enjoys all aspects of motorcycling.

Since 2014 he has taken part in the annual Pioneer Run on his trusted 1913 Triumph.

Phil

For many years Phil was a dispatch rider braving all weathers day and night.

In those days the machine of choice was a trusted Honda CX500, known as the Plastic Maggot. Phil’s enthusiastic riding style resulted in the footrest being ground away to nothing.

On the race track, Phil has competed on all manner of machines from the early LC Yamaha days to current classes such as the Suzuki Mini Twins.

Phil joined Fins in 1996 and has done almost every role possible and is well known to Fins' customers.

Phil’s favourite riders are Barry Sheene, Kevin Schwantz and of course Valentino Rossi

Sally

Sally has been working at Fins during the summer months since 2015 after a career doing “something in the city”. She assists Grant with his work on the front desk and sales and sorts out all those nitty gritty admin tasks nobody else wants to tackle!

She started riding at the age of 16 and travels extensively throughout Europe and the UK on two wheels. In 2010 she celebrated a big birthday by riding her BMW R1200GS from the east coast to the west coast of Canada via 9500 miles in between. She has also done off road trips in various places including Iceland and Romania.

Martin

Martin is our newest team member, however he is not new to the motorcycle industry. He has spent a lot of his working life working on BMWs in main dealerships and has a vast amount of knowledge and experience servicing and repairing all makes and models of motorcycles.

He is also our resident diagnostics expert. When Martin is not here working on motorcycles he is at home studying the latest software updates for his diagnotsic machine! He also enjoys spending his wages with the Snap-On man, relaxing to 80s music and watching every motorcycle race that gets televised.

Liam

Liam started working at Fins in August 2022. He is a keen motorcyclist following in his dads footsteps. Liam’s dad Danny McDonald worked at Fins as a mechanic in 1996-2015.

He started riding at the age of 3 on a Yamaha PW50 and has loved bikes ever since.

Liam works front of desk and can help with bike sales and ordering in parts. In Liam’s spare time he takes care of his Parrot, 3 cats and a Budgie.

Ben

Ben started working at Fins Motorcycles as an apprentice motorcycle mechanic. He is now a qualified mechanic. Ben enjoys off road motorcycling and currently has a YZ125 and CR80.

Paul

Paul spent many years as a fireman. In 2022 he came to work for us and does a lot of our Motorcycle delivery and collections. When he’s not out driving he is prepping motorcycles getting them ready for sale.
